Old fire engine will keep on truckin'
Scotts Valley-based King Crane operator, Tyler Morgan, lifts the 12,000-pound fire truck out of Oak Meadow Park, and onto a waiting trailer. The town is transporting the truck, a favorite of young visitors to the park, to Elmwood Correctional Center in Milpitas where inmates will weld away safety hazards before painting the truck fire-engine red and returning it to the park. At one point, it looked as if the old vehicle would have to be taken from the park permanently, as it did not comply with new safety standards for playground equipment.
