Organist plays for St. Luke's Evensong

    Church welcomes Kyoko Kato

For its final Evensong program of the 1998-99 season, St. Luke's Episcopal Church welcomes Kyoko Kato, a professional organist who will present a short program of music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Jehan Alain. Kato, who holds a bachelor's degree in church music and a master's degree in organ performance and literature, is the organist for Community United Church of Christ in San Carlos.

Kato was also chosen as a finalist in state and national organ competitions, has performed with contemporary organ masters and has appeared in concerts in the United States and Europe.

Prior to Kato's appearance, the St. Luke's Evensong Choir, under the direction of choirmaster Richard Coulter, will sing the traditional psalms and canticles that comprise the Episcopal Evening Prayer service.

All are welcome. There is no charge to attend, but a free-will offering will be accepted. The church is at 20 University Ave., next to Old Town. For more information, call 354-2195.
