Los Gatos Meats named top dog
The California Association of Meat Processors gave two top awards to Los Gatos Meats and Smokehouse during its recent convention. The meat firm was named Reserve Grand Champion for old-fashioned hot dogs and Champion for smoked poultry.
The annual convention took place at the Red Lion Hotel in Modesto. Los Gatos Meats and Smokehouse is owned by John and Donna Chiala and their son, Brian.
Courtside earns Tennis Association top honors
Courtside Tennis Club has received the United States Tennis Association's "Organization of the Year" award from among more than 6,000 other contenders. Courtside, which serves more than 1,300 members, is owned and operated by a subsidiary of the Dallas-based Club Corporation of America.
The USTA selected Courtside for the award based on several criteria, including quality of adult and junior programs; tournaments, leagues and other activities; programs for minority and underprivileged players; and provisions for schools and the general public to use the courts.
With 17 outdoor courts and four indoors, Courtside has hosted several major tennis events, including the International Tennis Federation Veterans' Championships and the Sybase Open.
Along with its namesake facilities, Courtside also offers racquetball, a fitness center, a swimming pool and jacuzzi, saunas and private meeting rooms.
Caere Corporation announces promotions
Los Gatos-based Caere Corporation, which provides computer desktop document management and form processing products, has promoted three senior executives.
Blanche M. Sutter, a Caere employee since 1986, is now senior vice president and chief financial officer. She holds a bachelor's degree in commerce and is a certified public accountant. Larry Lunetta, who joined Caere in 1992, now serves as vice president and general manager for desktop products. Along with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, he holds master's degrees in engineering and business administration.
Dean Hovey, who has also been named a vice president, will also serve as general manager of the newly formed Imaging Products Division. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree in general engineering/product design, and holds several patents in computer-related technologies.
