All Bay Area elementary, middle and high schools are invited to participate in McWhorter's sixth annual Back-to-School Fundraiser, which will begin July 22 and end Sept. 30. During that period, when customers at the stationery store submit a special fundraiser voucher with a particular school's name on it, McWhorter's will donate 10 percent of the purchase amount to that school. Vouchers will be available at participating schools and at all 22 McWhorter's locations, including at 15466 Los Gatos Blvd. Bay Area schools received more than $118,000 last year as a result of the fundraiser. At the Los Gatos Union School District's May 8 board meeting, Interim Superintendent Steve Peck announced this spring's Distinguished Employees, chosen by their peers through the district's semi-annual employee recognition program. Honored with framed certificates and flowers were Jennifer Hammond, special education department secretary to the district; Dwight Martin, Blossom Hill School first-grade teacher; and Alfred Panacy, yard-duty supervisor at Lexington School.
