    The Prowler

For some people, thinking about the Beatles conjures up fond memories of the hysteria and hope the Fab Four brought to fans around the world. For younger people, the Beatles may be nothing more than another textbook's significant-group-in-musical-history.

No matter what group readers fall into, the Prowler thinks they will appreciate the new exhibit at the Forbes Mill Regional History Museum, "FABulous FANaticism." Running through Aug. 15, it features an array of Beatles memorabilia from a private Bay Area collection. Take a walk down memory lane with John, Paul, George and Ringo at 75 Church St.; museum hours are noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Another exhibit, sponsored by the Los Gatos Arts Commission, also opened this month. The Los Gatos Senior Program's watercolor painting class exhibits "On the Move--From Bicycles to Hangliders" through June 25 at the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, in the Civic Center at 110 E. Main St. This cat has seen previous years' shows, and can attest to the quality of the work.

Also in the Civic Center is the library, where something special is always happening. On May 21 at 7:30 p.m., during the Friends of the Los Gatos Library's annual meeting, Los Gatan Martha Stockton Alderson presents a multi-media program on her distant ancestor Commodore Robert Field Stockton, who sailed around Cape Horn and won California land from Mexico. She became interested in Stockton after doing family genealogical research. She has since written several novels on the life and times of this Indiana Jones-type man.
