Barbecue honors retiring staff

The "Team" Los Gatos High Retirement Barbecue, for those faculty and staff leaving the school at the end of the year, will be held Sunday, May 31, on the front lawn of the high school.

This year's retirees are Ted Simonson, Al Simon, Florence Bell, Jack Cody, Jan Willoughby, Judy Bingman, Burt Donolan, Paul Bostwick and Patricia Hughes.

The barbecue begins at noon and ends at 5:p.m. Cost for the barbecue is $10, but admission is free. For ticket pre-sales, call the main office at LGHS at 354-2730, or Sandy Moore at 354-1512.

Award ceremony will honor senior

The Terraces of Los Gatos and the Los Gatos Weekly-Times present the Seniors of Distinction Award at a champagne reception Friday, May 22, at 4:30 p.m. in the Glenn Rouse Assembly Hall at The Terraces, 800 Blossom Hill Road.

Mayor Linda Lubeck will make the presentation to the senior who has earned the top honor as a senior of distinction.

The awards are for seniors from the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno area who have made notable contributions to the community.

Meet Chamber exec at mixer

Members of the Los Gatos business community are invited to meet Sheri Lewis, the new executive director of the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, at the Business After Hours mixer, Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Santa Cruz Mortgage, 20 S. Santa Cruz Ave., Suite 103.

Lewis recently was named to the position.
