Organist gives recital at St. Luke's church
For the June concert of St. Luke's Episcopal Church's Evensong concert series, on Father's Day, June 16, 3 p.m., organist Gail Archer will perform a program of Baroque music that includes works by Sweelinck, Scheidermann and Bach will be performed.
Archer, who holds a doctorate in musical arts, recently returned from Europe, where she played recitals at Saluzzo Cathedral near Turin, Italy, and Kirche St. Stefan in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland.
She is the director of the music program at Barnard College at Columbia University and conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. She is also the music director and organist at All Saints Episcopal Church in New York City.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill offering will be accepted. St. Luke's Episcopal Church is located at 20 University Ave. For more information, call 408.354.2195.
