LGHS hosts benefit for Albanian refugees

    Youth citizen competition opens

Applications for the annual Youth Citizen competition, sponsored by the Los Gatos Youth Park Board of Directors, are now available to Los Gatos elementary, middle- and high school-aged youths.

The competition, divided into three age categories, recognizes young people for their community service and volunteerism, school involvement and activities and academic scholarship. Three winners will be honored at a special ceremony in October at the Youth Park, an area behind Los Gatos High School that houses cabins used by local Scouting, 4-H, YMCA and Campfire groups. Each cabin is sponsored by a Los Gatos service club. The Youth Citizens will also lead the annual Children's Christmas and Holiday Parade in December and serve as the event's official whistle-blowers.

Deadline for Youth Citizen applications is June 10. Letters of support and recommendation may be included with the applications. For more information, call program coordinator Mary Bartlett at 354-9934. Additional information is available on the Internet at www.youthpark.org.
