Los Gatan heads work services at Goodwill Industries
Diane Moss was appointed supervisor of work services at the Institute for Career Development, a post-secondary job training school run by Goodwill Industries of Santa Clara County. ICD helps people with disabilities or other employment barriers learn competitive skills and find appropriate jobs.
Moss has been involved with ICD since 1993 and holds a master's degree in counseling psychology. She supervises two programs in her new position. One provides on-the-job training, work evaluations and opportunities for high school students to experience real working conditions; students are referred to this program through school districts, private rehabilitation counselors or by the California Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
The second program is ICD's "support employment," which helps develop employment opportunities for individuals who may need extra assistance in learning job details in order to become self-sufficient. The support employment program provides for job coaches where participants work.
