Parking discussion date shifted
Anyone interested in the town's plan for downtown parking will have to wait another month. The town will still consider both the construction of a new parking garage and charging for parking at all the town-owned lots.
But the meeting on parking, originally scheduled for June 17, was put off until July 15 at the request of Mayor Randy Attaway.
Future water supply in question
The Santa Clara Valley Water District plans several public meetings to discuss water and where the valley's supply will come from in the future. District officials hope for public testimony on water-supply issues.
A June 13 water workshop will take place at the Santa Clara City Council Chambers, 1500 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara. A June 19 workshop is scheduled for the Isaac Newton Senter Auditorium at the county Government Center, 70 West Hedding St., San Jose. And a June 27 workshop will be set at the Morgan Hill City Council Chambers, 17555 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill.
All the workshops are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m.
Riding Company appeals decision
After the Planning Commission denied permission for a 23-unit development at 742 University Ave., The Riding Company decided to appeal its plans for the property to the Town Council rather than return to the commission.
The council is expected to hear the application during its 7:30 p.m. meeting July 1.
When commission members on April 24 turned down the company, they argued that, given the current zoning, a residential tract would be inappropriate in that area. They added that light-industrial businesses, such as retail shops, dry cleaners and plumbers, permitted under its current zoning are needed in the area more than additional housing.
The Town Council meets in the Council Chambers,110 East Main St.
