International art is show theme
Two local and one international artist have gotten together for a two-weekend art event they call the DC-DC Exhibition--Different Creations from Different Cultures. The exhibit, which is open afternoons on June 19-20 and 26-27, features wearable art from Italy, sculptures from California and paintings from South America.
Rossella Antoniucci, a relative of Monte Sereno resident Pier Antoniucci, originally had a career in foreign relations at Italian embassies. She gradually shifted to her lifelong love of fashion. After obtaining degrees as a fashion stylist and in dress design and implementation techniques from the Istituto Callegari in Rome, Antoniucci first jumped into the fashion industry with swimsuits. She has since expanded her repertoire to include a line of spring and summer dresses. Her creations are not for sale at this time, but she hopes to collect comments and questions from the public.
Janet Fullmer Bajorek holds a bachelor's degree in Latin American Sociology, history, and art studies from the University of the Americas in Mexico City. She has also studied painting, sculpture and ceramics in Los Angeles and New York. She has exhibited in many Bay Area juried and one-person shows and owns Iguana Galleries in Los Gatos, where she exhibits her many sculptures.
Hugo Lecaros, a native of Peru, holds a bachelor's degree in Artes Plasticas, and taught art history and drawing at a Lima college before moving to the Bay Area. His paintings are part of museum, gallery and private collections in California, Peru and Italy.
