    Benjamin joins teachers' resource

Former Los Gatos mayor and Town Council member Joanne Benjamin has been named associate director of the Resource Area for Teachers, a nonprofit organization that collects business surplus--computers, office items, product donations and manufacturing end-runs and cut-outs--and offers this surplus to more than 3,500 teacher members, who join RAFT for a small annual fee in order to access its products as well as its training services. They can then use its materials for any number of enriching classroom activities.

A Los Gatos High School teacher of economics and government, Benjamin is on sabbatical, and is writing and designing curricula for Advanced Placement Excellence. In her new position with RAFT, Benjamin will focus on community support and program development, both critical activities for RAFT's expanding services.
