Town to join animal services authority

The town council is set to approve Los Gatos' participation in the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority at its July 17 meeting. The joint-powers authority has been created to provide services formerly the responsibility of the Santa Clara County Humane Society.

Los Gatos will join Santa Clara, Campbell, Cupertino, Monte Sereno, Sunnyvale and Saratoga in the purchase and management of the current Humane Society facility. Los Gatos will provide $254,100 toward the $3 million total purchase and remodel price of the existing Humane Society facility. The town will also provide $46,670 for the authority's preliminary operating budget.
