LGHS student earns highest rank
Mark Philip Carnathan, a junior at Los Gatos High School, earned the Eagle Scout Award on June 19 at the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos.
Sixteen-year-old Carnathan, son of D. Mark Carnathan and Cheryl Carnathan, has been a Boy Scout for 10 years. During those years, he was a member of Cub Scout Pack 502 and Boy Scout Troop 501.
Carnathan's Eagle Scout project was to build and install six artificial houses, known as bat boxes, for bats at the Anderson Dam in Morgan Hill. As a Boy Scout, Carnathan completed other community projects as well. In addition to scouting, Carnathan enjoys water polo, wrestling and swimming and was part of these teams at Los Gatos High School.
