The Prowler
Before this month is up, Los Gatans can take their pick from a variety of events--some fun, others educational--to attend in and around town. Mark those calendars now!
On July 31 from 10 a.m. to noon, anyone interested in cardiovascular health is invited to a lecture at Good Samaritan Hospital by Dr. Harmeet Sachdev. A Stanford University professor and member of the National Stroke Association, Sachdev will discuss how to prevent, detect and treat strokes and heart disease. Blood pressure checks and heart-rate screenings will also be available.
Since humans don't have nine lives like cats do, the Prowler recommends readers attend this event, especially since it's free, which is always a good price! Call 559-2175 for more info about this and Good Sam's other community outreach programs.
For those who enjoy good music and acting, this cat suggests checking out Theatre in the Mountains' Performing Arts Children's Conservatory in its upcoming production of Grease. TIMPACC's 8- to 18-year-old actors present this hit musical about Rydell High School's frolicsome Class of 1959, from July 22 through 25 at the Loma Prieta Community Center, 23800 Summit Road. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and $6 for children. For show times, call 353-9999.
Speaking of imaginative productions, the Prowler hears that the creative crafts of local artist Debbie Marie Arambula are still up at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Co. on W. Main Street. Arambula's technique is reverse painting on glass, which requires her to think and work in reverse. Pretty cool stuff, but when July ends, so does her exhibit!
