    Soccer coaches

    The Los Gatos United Soccer League has upcoming events scheduled for prospective coaches and referees.

    The league will hold a meeting for all recreational league coaches on July 29, 7:30-8:30 p.m., at the Hillbrook School gym.

    A three-week class for referees begins Aug. 3 and runs each Tuesday and Thursday (Aug. 3 and 5, Aug. 10 and 12, and Aug. 17 and 19), 6:30-9:30 p.m. each day, in the annex at Calvary Baptist Church, 16330 Los Gatos Blvd. The class is recommended for ages 12 and up.

    The league also encourages coaches to participate in an F license coaching class set for Aug. 13, 6-9 p.m., and Aug. 14, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Preregistration is required. Call the league line at 358-9289.

    Summer soccer camp

    The Los Gatos United Soccer League will hold a summer soccer camp Aug. 9-13 for players ages 5-15 of all ability levels--beginners, intermediates and advanced.

    All campers will receive a soccer ball and a camp T-shirt. For more information, email John Cleveland at clevelan@ricochet.net or call him at 358-9289, box 4.

    All-comers meets

    The Los Gatos All-Comers track and field meets will be held each Thursday through Aug. 12 at the high school track. The entry fee is $3 for unlimited events in the open, high school boys', women's, girls' and master men's divisions.

    The pole vault event begins at 5 p.m. with other field events (long jump, shot put, high jump, triple jump and discus) beginning at 5:30 p.m. Track events begin at 6 p.m.

    The fee for spectators is $2.

    Camp With the Pros

    South Bay Baseball presents its annual Camp With the Pros, a baseball camp for players ages 7-12 of all skill levels. The final session of the camp is set for Aug. 2-6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, at John Muir Middle School in San Jose.

    The camp fee is $109 per player per session, but family and group rates are available.

    Roger Samuels, a former major league pitcher for San Francisco and Pittsburgh, is the camp director and the director of instruction is Live Oak High School coach Mark Cummins, a former professional player and infielder at Santa Clara University.
