Footbridge mural takes shape

Fisher Middle School student Marian Roan, 11, paints Leo, one of two cat statues near The Cats restaurant, on a panel of the Forbes Mill Footbridge. Work on the mural project, sponsored by the Los Gatos Arts Commission, has been taking place on Sundays this summer. Youngsters who are painting segments of the bridge, first enrolled in workshops to study the history and flora and fauna of the area. The bridge behind Old Town crosses over the freeway and is a favorite shortcut for walkers and bicyclists. Soon, it will be a place to view local history through the eyes of the town's youngsters.
