Meeting held on new senior center

The Los Gatos Senior Consortium, a group representing various senior organizations, will hold an open meeting for people who are interested in creating a new senior center for the town, at 1:30 p.m., Aug. 4, at the Live Oak Senior Nutrition and Service Center.

The consortium is looking for input from citizens on what they want in a senior center, who should manage it, where it should be located and any other issues people might want to discuss.

The Live Oak Center is at 19 High School Court. For more information, call Jack Orlove at 356-9016.

    Public/private meeting is set

Larry Arzie and Joanne Rodgers are inviting members of the community to what they're calling a public/private meeting at 4 p.m., Aug. 8, at Arzie's home, La Estancia, 18000 Overlook Road, to discuss public participation in the general plan update.

Both Arzie and Rodgers have been involved in the General Plan Task Force and say they are concerned that when the general plan update is presented, many residents will assume that it is a done deal.

Councilwoman Linda Lubeck has agreed to be at the meeting to answer questions about the general plan update. Call 356-1858 to RSVP.

    Council names new officials

Town Council members made another round of appointments July 19.

Michael Burke was re-appointed to the General Plan Committee, which he chairs, and Steve Lester was re-appointed to the Newsrack Committee. Bill Errico and Lisa Meddows were re-appointed to the Rent Advisory Committee. Richard Lang was appointed to the Redevelopment Advisory Committee.
