Bicycle tours

The Clean Air Bicycle Challenge, co-sponsored by the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club and the American Lung Association, will be held Sept. 14 with tours starting from Los Gatos High School.

Tours feature loops of 20 miles, 50 kilometers, 100 kilometers and 100 miles. The registration fee runs from $10 to $20, and families are welcome.

Clash camps

The San Jose Clash will hold soccer camps for youngsters ages 5-8 Aug. 19-23. Players ages 5-6 will attend from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and players ages 7-8 will attend from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $55 and includes a soccer ball and T-shirt. For more information, call Louie Mata at 923-5682.

All-comers meets

Los Gatos will host the final all-comers track and field meet of the summer season on Aug. 15 at the high school track. Field events get under way at 5:30 p.m. and running events begin at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $3 per event for athletes in the open, high school, girls/women, and masters divisions. The cost for spectators is $2.

Freitas fires an ace

John Freitas pulled out a 5-iron and knocked in a hole-in-one on the 150-yard 11th hole at the LaRinconada Country Club in Los Gatos recently.

Youth ice hockey

The Santa Clara Valley Hockey Association will hold tryouts for players ages 6-17 beginning Sept. 3.

The league is currently holding ice hockey skills clinics on Sundays through the end of August at the Iceoplex in Fremont. Mites and squirts are on the ice 10:40-11:40 a.m. with the pee wees, bantams and midgets in action 11:50 a.m.-12:50 p.m.

Hockey scrimmages for mites through midgets are held Saturdays, 7:30-9 a.m., at the Eastridge Ice Arena in San Jose and Thursdays, 7:45-9 p.m., at the Iceoplex.

LG United Soccer

The Los Gatos United Soccer League will host a summer camp for youth Aug. 19-23 at Fisher Middle School. Call Jan Eric Nordmo at 988-6900 for more information.
