    Annexation meetings, round two

Town and county officials will be holding a second round of meetings on annexation of county pockets this week. Meetings will be on Tuesday, Aug. 17, for residents north of Blossom Hill Road and Thursday, Aug. 19, for residents to the south. Both meetings start at 7:30 p.m. in the Neighborhood Center, 208 E. Main St.

After a brief update on the process, staff will answer questions raised by the Annexation Answer Book, which was sent to county pocket residents on Aug. 2, and answer any additional questions that weren't addressed by the book.

    Conferences end for EMQ

Eastfield Ming Quong announced last week that it has closed its Los Gatos Conference Center facilities to the public.

Instead, the meeting space at the facility will now be reserved for use by EMQ staff; some of the organization's partners, such as the county Department of Education and Department of Social Services; and various volunteer groups.

"Our other campuses are full, and we needed that space," said Donna Lund, EMQ's vice president of financial development. "We don't have room to both accommodate our staff and have a meeting space."

Lynd stresses that EMQ is not increasing the number of its own staffers who work at the center. EMQ began renting out part of the Loma Alta Avenue facility in 1995. EMQ also houses 30 children at the facility.

EMQ will hold neighborhood meetings at the facility on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 364-4081.
