    Los Gatan named to the dean's list

    Ryan Cabell Johnson of Los Gatos was named to the dean's list at Lehigh University for spring 1999.

    Lehigh is an independent, coeducational university in Pennsylvania with programs in the arts and humanities, business, education, engineering and the natural and social sciences.

    Greg Ryder wins Stanford Jazz award

    Los Gatos High School musician Greg Ryder received an Outstanding Soloist award at the Stanford Jazz Workshop recently. Ryder, 16, received the award for his tenor saxophone performances at the workshop. Greg plays tenor saxophone in the West Valley Junior College Jazz Band, tenor drums in the LGHS marching band and alto saxophone in the LGHS concert band. This was Ryder's fourth year at the workshop. He attended the workshop on a scholarship from the Los Gatos High School Band Boosters.

    Graduate receives Pfeiffer scholarship

    Alexandra Muller, a graduating senior at Los Gatos High School, was awarded the Valerie Lynn Pfeiffer Memorial Scholorship during morning services at Calvary Church on June 13. Muller, who plans to attend Seattle Pacific University in the fall, will receive $1,325. An additional $330 will be donated from the scholarship fund to a Christian ministry student in Guatemala.

    The scholarship was established by her family in memory of Pfeiffer, a Los Gatos High School graduate who was killed in an auto accident in1988.
