    Labor Day Basketball

    The Labor Day Invitational, a basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades 6-8 and high school junior varsity players, will be held Sept. 10-12 at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.

    Age divisions include grade 6 (12-and-under), grade 7 (13-and-under), grade 8 (14-and-under) and junior varsity, and the tournament is open to school, club and traveling teams.

    Cost is $250 per team, and there is a three-game guarantee. The registration deadline is Aug. 22.

    Cal Football

    Fans of UC-Berkeley football are invited to the Cal Football FunFest on Aug. 22, noon to 3 p.m., at Kleeberger Field, next to Memorial Stadium on the Cal campus.

    There will be a cheer-leading clinic, food, games and autograph sessions. For information on the free event, call 1-510-642-2444.

    Fall Ball

    The Hardtke World Of Baseball will offer "Fall Ball" programs for youth ages 8-12 and teens 13-18 for the sixth straight year. The program is designed for the serious player.

    The 8-12 age division offers practice sessions once, twice or three times a week. All practices are held at Hardtke World of Baseball, 148 San Tomas Aquino Road, Campbell. League play begins Sept. 15 and ends Oct. 24.

    The 13-18 age division features a "wood bat" league. The season, which begins Sept. 11 and ends Oct. 20, features two divisions--varsity, players trying out for their high school varsity team; and junior varsity, players trying out for frosh-soph teams.
