    LG's Crowder among winners in Catfish Swim at Lexington

    Suzanne Heim-Bowen, Bob Crowder, Rob Small and Michael Buchanan were each champions when the athletes hit the water for Catfish Swim in Lexington Reservoir last month.

    Heim-Bowen and Small each won in the "skin" division, and Crowder and Buchanan won their events wearing wetsuits.

    Crowder, of Los Gatos, won the 1.2-mile wetsuit swim in the Catfish event. He covered the distance in 24:34 to finish a solid 19 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Greg Anderson of Woodside.

    Rounding out the top 10 in the division were Gregory Wright, third in 25:07; Tim Lavelle, fourth in 25:14; Nicole Logan, fifth in 25:49; Paul Wilson of Los Gatos, sixth in 25:56; Erik Bost, seventh in 26:08; Matthew Ryan, eighth in 26:15; Gary Kennard, ninth in 26:53; and Brian Cullum, 10th in 26:58.

    Los Gatos swimmers who finished in the top 50 included Niel Hussallem (15th), Stacie Kashevaroff (26th), Carol Fredrickson (37th) and Kirsten Dryden (40th).

    Walnut Creek's Heim-Bowen took the 1.2-mile skin race in 21:17, finishing 12 seconds ahead of runnerup Brian Williams of Los Gatos and 16 seconds ahead of third-place Brian Lavelle of San Jose.

    Becky Gibbs was fourth in 21:35 with Brent Lang fifth in 23:31, Kirk Walker sixth in 23:40, Bichum Liu seventh in 23:57, Kevin Koskella eighth in 24:38, Krissy Adams ninth in 24:40 and Neil Leary 10th in 24:41.

    Los Gatos swimmers in the top 50 included Lisa Yonaka (12th), Steve Ratzliff (13th), Scott Bannan (14th), Andrew Kratz (38th) and Patty McFate-Johnson (50th). Carol Wilson of Monte Sereno was 24th.

    In the skins 2.4-mile swim, Small was the winner in 43:12 with Lisa Hazen of Saratoga a close second in 43:21.

    Alison Zamanian was third in 43:24, Jeff Henderson fourth in 43:27, Brandon Beckman fifth in 43:32, Asheley Frogner sixth in 44:29, Pete Kain seventh in 44:44, Sarah Arterburn of Campbell eighth in 44:50, Katie Welch ninth in 44:52 and Brian Villarreal 10th in 44:54.

    Other Los Gatos top 50 finishers were Paul Jonathon (22nd), Scott Zavack (23rd), Larry Lenmart (25th), Beverly Baclawski (36th) and Jenaya Soberman (41st).

    Buchanan finished first in the 2.4-mile wetsuit swim, covering the distance in 44:44. Lars Ericsson was a distant second in 46:22.

    John Dryden of Los Gatos finished third in 46:45 with Donn Byrne Jr. of Saratoga fourth in 47:32, Michael J. Zeroski fifth in 49:22, Matthew Phtout sixth in 49:33, Steve Bartig of Los Gatos seventh in 50:04, Aaron Huther eighth in 50:07, Martha Seaver of Cupertino ninth in 50:17 and Hans Ydremark 10th in 50:22.

    Los Gatos swimmers in the top 50 in the division included John Aver (15th), Cathrin Barsch (18th), Mark Cosgrove (22nd), Cathy Rusiniak (26th), Christopher Edwards (31st), Reid Swanson (35th), Peggy Marcucci (38th) and Lori Bartis (48th).
