Demers scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over the Saratoga Tidalwave to help the Lions secure the tournament championship.
Demers had scored a goal a game earlier in a 1-0 win over the Santa Rosa Blazing Rose. Nastasia Andari and Annie Ravizza came through with assists on the two goals scored by Demers in the final two games of the tourney.
The Lions had opened the tournament with back-to-back 1-0 victories the Almaden Strikers and Fremont Jazz. Claire Chimenti scored the first goals, one unassisted and the second off an Andari assist.
Goalkeepers Anne Masterman and Julia Pugliese teamed up for the four shutouts and Nicki Anderson, Heather Hale, Emily Scott, Leigh Haskin, Amanda Palasky and Lizzy Morrissey were defensive standouts.
The Mountain Lions came back with a team second at the Folsom Lake Labor Day tournament. The locals lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to the Lamorinda Sting in the finals, despite outshooting the champs 15-1 in the second half.
The Lions blanked the Sunrise Lightning 4-0, edged the Folsom Lightning 3-2 and whitewashed East Diablo Union 4-0 in the first three games of the tournament.
Demers, Leslie Adams, Andari, Palasky, Kim Christiansen, Chimenti and Anderson all scored goals in the tourney for the Lions. Demers ended up with eight goals in the two tournaments.
Michelle Beritzhoff, Kirstin Horn and Kim Detrick also played well in the tourney for the Lions.
