Internationally known family psychologist Dr. H. Stephen Glenn, co-author of Raising Self-Reliant Children in a Self-Indulgent World, will speak at a free forum for all Los Gatos Union School District parents on Oct. 8, 7-9 p.m., in the cafeteria of Fisher Middle School, located at 17000 Robert Road. Parents can learn strategies for dealing with the cultural changes that complicate child-rearing, develop guidelines for maintaining good communications with children, and learn how to help children interpret social behaviors in the context of their family's value system.
Golf tournament set
The Daves Avenue School Benefit Golf Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 25 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course. The first tee time is 10 a.m. Cost is $75 per golfer, which includes green fees, golf cart and lunch. Foursomes may also be formed. Proceeds benefit various programs at Daves Avenue. Candidates night
The public will have an opportunity to listen to and speak with the three candidates running for the Los Gatos Union School District Board of Trustees on Oct. 17, 7-8:30 p.m., in the Fisher Middle School cafeteria. The candidates are Dorothy "Dot" Rouse, Gail Schwartz and incumbent Stephen Parsons. The event, sponsored by the Home and School Clubs of each LGUSD school, will include speeches by candidates, a question-and-answer period.
