Freshman Football

The Los Gatos varsity and frosh-soph football teams will be home for games this Friday night--but something new has been added in Wildcat football.

Gatos will field a freshman team that will take on Palo Alto on Oct. 5 at Helm Field. The young Wildcats and Vikings are set for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

Badgers win again

Geoff Hubbard drilled two goals and Nima Rahimi, Adam Nelson and Anthony Burks added one each to lead the Badgers to a 5-1 win over the Rams in the boys' under-12 recreational division of the Los Gatos United Soccer League.

Thomas Armstrong, Derek Doyle and Victory Larsson supported with assists and Matthew Herrick and Michael Jones played well offensively. Cort Roberts and Nathan Kananen led the defense.

Vikings beat Sierra

Chris Spencer (Lynbrook) tossed in eight goals and Mark von Behren, Lance Campbell (Los Gatos) and Chris Vera added three each to lead the West Valley Community College men's water polo team to a lopsided 23-7 win over Sierra in Coast Conference play last week.

Junior Basketball

The Los Gatos National Junior Basketball is currently looking for players for the 1996-97 season.

The highly competitive program features divisions for third- and fourth-graders, fifth- and sixth-graders and seventh- and eighth-graders.

The third- and fourth-grade division is developmental, and players are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Fourth-graders who played in the league last year have priority, but it is estimated that there will be more than 20 positions available for new players on the girls and boys teams.

Players in the upper level programs must attend talent assessment sessions on Oct. 6 and 13.

The registration fee is $150 per player. For information, call Grant Rollin or Peggy DellaRocchetta at 764-9760.
