    Los Gatos High School Meetings

Los Gatos High School will hold public meetings Oct. 5 and 18, regarding the construction of its new language arts building.

The Oct. 5 session is a Los Gatos High School building committee meeting, and the site facilities committee meets on the Oct. 18.

The new building will replace the current structure immediately adjacent to the east side of the main structure.

Both meetings will be held at the Los Gatos High School library, at 3:30 p.m.

    Watch out for phone scams

Several Los Gatos seniors have reported receiving suspicious phone calls from individuals requesting credit card and bank account information. The callers have identified themselves as employees of "the bank" and said the calls were part of routine "record checking."

While seniors are often targeted by such scams, police say anyone can become a victim. Police emphasize the importance of never giving out personal information, particularly financial information, to an unfamiliar person or organization.

    Commission says no to subdivide

The planning commission on Sept. 27, unanimously denied an application to demolish a single-family residence, subdivide the property and construct four townhouses on Roberts Road.

Commission chairman Paul Bruno led the motion to deny the project. In his motion, he stated that the project was incompatible with surrounding land uses, did not conform to community benefit requirements and hardscape limits in the General Plan, and lacked sufficient open space.
