    Gatos falls to Coyote Creek

It was a tough day for the teams from Los Gatos when they battled Coyote Creek in Pop Warner Football play with the Tigers, Cougars and Panthers each losing for the first time this season.

The Tigers dropped a 6-0 heartbreaker to Coyote Creek despite a solid defensive performance.

The clubs fought to a scoreless tie in the first half with Scott Day, Jake Vilaubi, Nick Scudellari, Sam Scudellari, Robbie Comeau, Paul Politi and Jeffrey Pepper leading the defensive effort.

The Tigers recovered three first-half fumbles, including one forced by Vilaubi and recovered by Alex Estrada.

Pepper, Day and Chris La Bouff started the second half strong defensively, but the Wildcats managed a 36-yard touchdown run to break up the scoreless battle. Estrada led the charge that stopped the extra-point attempt, but the lone touchdown would turn out to be the difference in the game.

Ryan Van Amburg intercepted a pass in the second half for the Tigers.

The Panthers also lost for the first time this season, falling 13-7 to the Coyote Creek Wildcats to move to 3-1 for the year.

Nick Della Rocchetta tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jake Schonig and Schnig ran in for the extra point to tie the game 7-7 in the first period.

Kelly Peterson was the top ground gainer for the Panthers with Nick Kalpin, Kellan Barker, Dustin Wynne and Jeff DeBarr leading the blocking attack up front.

Barker was the leading tackler for the Panthers and Eric Omanoff recorded a strong showing at defensive end. Peterson forced a fumble at the Gatos 2-yard-line that Wesley Howell recovered to stop a Coyote Creek scoring threat.
