LGUSD board rescinds Peck resignation

By Shari Kaplan

Longtime Los Gatos Union School District assistant superintendent Steve Peck has decided not to leave the district to serve as principal of DeVargas Elementary School in the Cupertino Union School District.

Superintendent Bert Pearlman announced at the LGUSD's regular board of trustees meeting Oct. 9 that the board has accepted Peck's request that his resignation be rescinded. Pearlman also told the audience that Peck is taking a temporary sick leave to recover from exhaustion.

Although the district has now cancelled its statewide search for a replacement assistant superintendent, Daves Avenue principal Cleo Osborn will continue to serve as interim assistant superintendent until Peck's return. Glenice Magee of Daves Avenue will continue to facilitate things as head teacher while Osborn is filling in for Peck.

Pearlman said Peck apparently had some second thoughts. Pearlman did not wish to go into details, however, explaining that it was a personal matter.
