Many at LGHS excel during Advanced Placement exams
Seventy Los Gatos High School students were named A.P. Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Examinations. Approximately 13 percent of more than 700,000 high school students, who took the exams in May 2000, scored high enough to earn this recognition.
Students take A.P. examinations in May after completing various college-level courses at their high schools. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on the number and type of courses students have taken. Most American colleges and universities award class credit, advanced placement or both based on incoming freshmen's successful performance.
