Congregation throws party for upcoming anniversaries

Congregation Shir Hadash, at 16555 Shannon Road in Los Gatos, invites the community to attend two festive events that celebrate two congregational milestones.

Twenty years ago, the fledgling congregation began holding religious services in a makeshift facility on Mozart Avenue in Los Gatos. Ten years later, Rabbi Melanie Aron took the helm of the growing congregation, which she continues to lead today.

The first event is the 20/10 Gala on Nov. 11, which is also a fundraiser for the synagogue and its religious school. Chaired by Barb Chappell and Linda Rossen, the black-tie affair features a dinner catered by the Fairmont Hotel--including dessert, followed by music and dancing to Jeff the D.J. The Gala also includes an auction of a variety of goods and services, organized by co-chairs Lori Kessler and Rosemary Scher. Wrapping up the celebration is Shir Hadash's annual craft fair on Nov. 18, with an assortment of gift items.

Tickets to the 20/10 Gala are $150 per person. For more information, call Chappell at 408.358.1261.
