Old Town EIR returns

Planning commissioners will hear public testimony about the environmental-impact report on expanding and remodeling Old Town for the third and final time Nov. 13.

Commissioners are expected to decide that night whether to recommend acceptance of the report to the Town Council. The town must accept the environmental data before it can consider Old Town's request for permission to build a new building and renovate the existing shopping center.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St.

Park district sells permits for trimmings of eucalyptus trees

Eucalyptus and pine trees that must be trimmed this fall at Vasona Lake County Park will end up in the fireplaces of anyone with the time and inclination to chop the trimmings into fire logs.

The park district will sell wood permits that entitle the bearer to cut up and haul away a cord of wood, after a local tree-trimming company trims it from trees in the park.

Permits cost $50. And permit buyers must bring their own goggles, gloves, a hard hat and a chain saw equipped with a chain saw brake.

A limited number of permits will be available. For information, call 356-2729.

Experts will explain election results

A post-election seminar is planned at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Campbell Community Center, the League of Women Voters of Los Gatos-Saratoga-Monte Sereno announced last week.

Speakers will be Terry Christensen, chairman of San Jose State University's political science department, and former Santa Clara County Supervisor Suzanne Wilson.The speakers will discuss voting trends in this election, future trends, representation of minorities, women and younger voters and the prevalence of backlash.
