    Pumpkin Perfection

Matthew La Vey, 3, inspects his newly carved pumpkin during the children's Halloween picnic on Oct. 24, at Oak Meadow Park. The annual event is sponsored by the Los Gatos Rotary Club for some 125 children in special education classes at Carlton, Lietz, Oster, Alta Vista and Lone Hill schools. The activities included rides on the carousel and the Billy Jones Railroad and, of course, pumpkin carving. Youngsters took their pumpkins home with them. Lunch featured hamburgers with all the fixings prepared by Rotarians. This marked the 23rd consecutive year for the event. As she has in past years, Judy Stein from the Union School District acted as coordinator between the schools and the club.
