Horse-drawn carriage rides return
By Shari Kaplan
In keeping with the small-town atmosphere so many Los Gatans enjoy--especially during the festive holiday season--the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 3 kicks off its traditional horse-drawn carriage ride program. The first ride of the season commences at 7:30 p.m., following another annual event, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Town Plaza Park.
The open-air jaunts take place Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 19 and run from 5 to 10 p.m. on each of the designated days except Sunday, when they run from 1 to 6 p.m. Carriages depart at the southwest corner of the Town Plaza and take patrons on 20-minute rides through the downtown area. The route also takes riders clip-clopping through some of Los Gatos' most scenic residential streets.
Each festively decorated carriage, which has lap blankets available in case of cold weather, seats four people. Tickets are $60 for two adults wishing to take a private carriage ride; individual tickets for carriage rides are $20 per person for ages 11 and older and $10 for children ages 3 to 10. Children younger than 3 ride for free on an adult's lap. Riders are asked to indicate a first and second choice of date and time when making reservations. For more information, call the Chamber, 408.354.9300.
