    Panthers, Tigers win titles

The Panthers and Tigers each pulled out championship victories to give Los Gatos-Saratoga Pop Warner Football a pair of Division II titles this fall.

The Panthers blanked Mountain View 13-0 in the final game of the season, and the Tigers rallied for an 18-7 win over the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars.

Quarterback Kevin McCarty completed a pair of passes on a 50-yard first-quarter touchdown drive that he capped with an 8-yard TD run to lead the Panthers to the 13-0 victory.

Stefan Fowler ran one from the 6 for another touchdown late in the third period and McCarty scooted in for the two-point conversion to give the locals a 13-0 lead.

Chad Bannan's interception late in the game helped the Panthers clinch the win, and Richie Scudellari boomed a 60-yard punt in the first half that helped the Panthers control field position.

Jake Schonig's 20-yard run set up his own touchdown from the 7 to start the Tigers down the road to an 18-7 win.

Ryan VanAmburg, Nick Kalpin and Nick Smith each came through with strong runs in the second half, and Schonig scored on runs of 45 and 15 yards to help the Tigers secure the victory.

Tyler Plane came through with a clutch quarterback sack in the win, and Matt Petrillo, Chris LaBouff, Alex Estrada, Sean Goodison and Jeffrey Pepper were all singled out for their tough play.
