    Top Wildcats nail second

Goalkeepers Michelle O'Brien and Cola Hess allowed just one goal in four games as the Top Cats, a girls 12-and-under team in the Los Gatos United Soccer League, rolled to a second-place finish at the District 2 Cup finals in Morgan Hill.

The Top Cats blanked the Santa Clara Hurricanes 4-0 and beat the Alamden Wonders and the Stanford Heat Wave by matching 1-0 scores before losing a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Mount Hamilton Rockets in the finals.

Carly Stavis knocked in two goals, and Jacqui Kemp, Leslie Anderson, Kelsey Dickens and Jennifer Cruse scored a goal each to lead the offensive effort for the Top Cats.

Sweeper Casey Duncheon joined with Shannel Whitham and Sheena Donohue to star defensively for the Cats, along with the two 'keepers.

District 2 stretches from Burlingame in San Mateo County, south to Hollister in San Benito County.
