    Open Studios seeks artists

Silicon Valley Open Studios, formerly Open Studios of South Bay Artists, seeks artists who live or work in Santa Clara, San Mateo or San Benito counties to participate in the 14th annual open studios event, which is scheduled for the weekends of April 29-30 and May 6-7, 2000. Work in all media of arts and crafts is welcome.

Participation is non-juried to provide emerging artists the same opportunities for recognition as those who are better known in the professional community. One of the benefits of the open studios format is that it allows artists to meet art enthusiasts and collectors one-on-one, discuss their works informally and sell to the public. The event also gives visitors a chance to see artists in their element--often their home studios--and engaged in the creative process. In 1999, Open Studios brought together more than 300 artists and 36,000 members of the public.

Registration deadline is Nov. 30. Artists wishing guidelines and registration forms can send a stamped, self-addressed, business-size envelope to Open Studios, P.O. Box 2106, Cupertino, 95015-2106. Registration is also available online at www.svva.org. For more information, call Liz Kraft at 650.941.5337.
