Hospital task force disbands
After delivering its findings to the town council on Oct. 16, the Children's Hospital Task Force was dissolved, though supporters are pressing on in the form of the recently created Silicon Valley Children's Hospital Foundation.
The nonprofit foundation is pursuing a three-step plan of action, starting with a children's urgent-care facility and ending with a full-fledged hospital.
The task force had asked the town at the Oct. 16 meeting to continue the task force and offer a general endorsement for the first phase of the project. The new mayor, Joe Pirzynski, had the prerogative of continuing the task force, but because it had completed its original objective, Pirzynski declined to do so.
Hospital supporters want to place the urgent-care facility in the area known as the North Forty. Town staff submitted a report at the Oct. 16 meeting, saying such a use would be permitted under the current zoning, and any application would be considered on its individual merits.
Holiday parade closes streets
