    Shootout returns to Los Gatos

    By Dick Sparrer

There will be a champion crowned in the gym at Los Gatos on Saturday night.

    But who will it be?

Don't ask Los Gatos boys basketball coach Jim Marino, because he doesn't know.

"This tournament is wide open," said Marino of the Los Gatos Lions Club Wildcat Shootout that runs Dec. 8-11 in the Gatos gym. "There are four teams that could win it."

Armijo of Fairfield, Willow Glen, Leland, Gunderson and Los Gatos all appear to be teams that could contend for the top spot, and any of the four could be on the floor for the championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The tourney opens on Dec. 8, 5:30 p.m., when Leland battles Saratoga. Later that night, Los Gatos squares off with Live Oak at 7 p.m.

A night later, Willow Glen and Armijo collide at 5:30 p.m., and Pioneer and Gunderson meet at 7 p.m.

Action continues Friday with losers' bracket games at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. and winners' bracket games at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The consolation championship game is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday with the third-place game at 5:30 p.m. and the championship game at 7 p.m.
