Police, friends search for former Los Gatan

By Shari Kaplan

A native Los Gatan who has been missing since Nov. 26 is the subject of a continuing investigation by Burlingame police and an ongoing search by family and friends, some of whom live in Los Gatos.

Tony Sorensen, 34, a Los Gatos High School graduate, disappeared on Nov. 26. The next day, his white Acura was found abandoned on Highway 35 in the Skyline Mountain Range in the Woodside area, according to Commander John Parkin of the Burlingame Police Department.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department search and rescue team, along with Sorenson's family and friends, conducted searches of the area from Nov. 28-30, but did not locate Sorensen or uncover any clues to his whereabouts. Parkin said police investigators believe Sorensen's disappearance was voluntary, rather than the result of foul play. Sorensen apparently had been depressed prior to his disappearance, Parkin added.

Sorensen stands 5-feet, 11-inches and weighs 165 pounds. He has light brown hair, hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black-and-cream striped T-shirt under a black fleece pullover. He has limited vision.

As of Dec. 12, there has been no activity on Sorensen's credit cards or bank account, Parkin said. Anyone with leads on the case should call the Burlingame Police Department investigations division at 415/692-8440.
