One in, one out in town council race
Los Gatos Planning Commissioner Paul Dubois
has formally declared his candidacy in the
November town council elections, obtaining
nomination papers from the clerk's office
last week. At the same time, candidate David
Guimarin announced he was dropping out of the
race because he feels he is unprepared for a
council run and has not done enough research
on town issues. Guimarin hopes to run in
2004.
Dubois, who has already opened a campaign
bank account, made a failed bid in 2000.
Dubois has served on several other town
committees, is vice president of the Los
Gatos Community Foundation and works as a
security consultant. Dubois joins five others
in the race for three seats.
Incumbent takes papers for election
Monte Sereno Councilwoman Barbara Nesbet has
confirmed her intention to try for another
term on the Monte Sereno City Council by
taking out nomination papers. Nesbet is the
last of the three publicly-stated residents
to vie for the three positions available on
Nov. 5; the other two are Kim Hanrahan and
Deepak Chopra.
Market moved for a day
The Los Gatos Farmer's Market has a change of
venue on Sunday, Aug. 11, due to the Los
Gatos Fiesta de Artes. The farmer's market
will be held in front of Los Gatos High
School, since Fiesta de Artes is in front of
the civic center every year; the market will
run its normal hours of 7 a.m.
