Police Report
Suspicious Person—Aug. 5, 11:07 p.m. Three youths who were loitering behind the Jack in the Box on Los Gatos Boulevard peeked over the wall into a yard behind the restaurant. Police confronted the youths and sent them on their way.

Drunk in Public—Aug. 5, 10:38 p.m. A man was walking along N. Santa Cruz Avenue carrying a dustpan and threatening to hit people with it. The man then went inside a bar. Police arrested him for being drunk in public and took him to a sobering station.

Theft—Aug. 5, 4 p.m. A painting hanging on the fence around Los Gatos Town Plaza Park was taken sometime between July 25 and Aug. 2. The value of the painting was estimated at $250. A report was taken.

Identity Theft—Aug. 5, 12:10 p.m. In March, a person had gone to an ATM and left the ATM card in the machine. Someone had taken the card and used it at several locations out of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department's jurisdiction. Police took a report.

Burglary—Aug. 5, 8:53 a.m. Some plants were taken from a Winchester Boulevard nursery over the weekend. A customer saw a truck parked on Farley at 2 a.m. on Aug. 4. The subject was taking the plants over the fence and had the truck half-filled with plants. The witness noted the license plate number, but police had no records relating to that plate. They took a report.

Drunk Man—Aug. 5, 12:48 a.m. A resident called 911 and did not say anything, but the dispatcher could hear movement in the background. The call was disconnected and then busy upon callback. The dispatcher tried again, and the man who answered said he didn't know who he was. Police went to the Avery Lane apartment. Nobody answered the door, and police announced that they would try to kick the door in. Neighbors said the homeowner was out of town. With the help of the fire department's ladder truck, the man was found. He was very drunk but had no other problems. No report was taken.

Disturbance—Aug. 4, 11:17 p.m. It was reported that there were five people driving and possibly drinking and lighting unknown objects on Loma Alta Avenue. A second caller said that there were two vehicles leaving toward Los Gatos Boulevard, but three juveniles were left standing in the roadway and lighting something on fire. Police talked to the group. The youths were sent home with their parents, and the adults in the group were sent on their way.

Attempted Burglary—Aug. 4, 10:21 p.m. Two or three men were trying to get into a car parked on Clearview Drive and took off on foot. There was no damage to the vehicle and no fingerprints left. Police tried to locate the men, who were wearing dark clothing and dark hats.

Attempted Burglary—Aug. 3, 10:43 p.m. While a person sat inside a Winchester Boulevard restaurant eating dinner, someone smashed in the window of the person's rental car and took a purse with paperwork inside. A report was taken.

Harassing Phone Calls—Aug. 3, 8:08 p.m. A man made threats against the parents of a child on his child's football team. Police contacted the man, who lives in Hayward. He told police that he would not make any further contact with the victim but would contact a lawyer to deal with the civil issue at hand. No report was taken.

Disturbance—Aug. 3, 7:33 p.m. A Milbrae Lane resident said that her neighbors downstairs were banging on the ceiling because she had her music on. The downstairs residents said they were merely hanging up curtain rods.

Malicious Mischief—Aug. 3, 12:32 a.m. A boy was seen shooting out a streetlight on Montclair Road with an air gun. A witness initially confronted the boy when he ran away and tried to hide by laying on the ground in a driveway. The boy ran away again, however, and the witness didn't know where he lives. Police took a report.
