Dammit Run is coming to town Saturday

The 29th annual Dammit Run takes place in Los Gatos this Saturday. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m., with the 5-mile run beginning at 8:30 a.m. Joggers meet at the Los Gatos High School track, go to Lexington Dam by way of the Los Gatos Creek Trail, and return on Jones Trail to College Avenue, ending up back at the high school.

Event organizers expect 800 participants and anticipate the run to end at approximately 11 a.m. According to the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, no street closures are expected for this event. For more information, call 408.354.7365, 408.394.4311 or 408.395.2002.


Republicans celebrating 50 years here

West Valley Republican Women will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an event set for Aug. 17, 5 p.m., at the Los Gatos home of Georgia Nelson.

All Republicans are invited to attend the potluck gathering. There will be a hat contest, with prizes for the "most patriotic" and "most Republican" entries.

Fire department training set for Monte Sereno

The Santa Clara County Fire Department is offering emergency and safety training for residents on an as-needed basis. According to Monte Sereno City Manager Brian Loventhal, residents have expressed concern about handling emergency situations.
