Film festival is this weekend in Los Gatos
The Los Gatos Film Festival this weekend will
be preceded by two free community events.
From 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Los Gatos
Cinema will showcase clips from 22 local
filmmakers and have a panel with those in the
business. On Friday, E.T. The
Extra-Terrestrial will be shown at Oak Meadow
Park. The movie starts at 8 p.m.; the
community should bring blankets and lawn
chairs.
Los Gatos Cinema will show three premieres
throughout the day on Saturday for $10 each.
The screenings follow a brunch at Willow
Street Wood-Fired Pizza at 9:30 a.m.; after
the screening, the Toll House Hotel will hold
a Hollywood gala from 7 to 10 p.m. for $35.
For more information or to buy tickets, call
408.354.9300.
Schools have new parking restrictions
Parents of children going to Fisher Middle
School and Van Meter School will have to
watch out for new parking restrictions before
the school year begins. Because of
construction near those schools, the town is
changing parking along the sidewalk to
15-minute-only slots on weekdays between 7:30
and 9 a.m. and 2 and 3:30 p.m. The streets
affected are Fisher Avenue along Fisher
Middle School and the Van Meter side of Nino
Avenue between Fisher Avenue and Los Gatos
Boulevard.
Deadline for leadership program Sept. 6
The final day Los Gatans can apply for the
2002-03 Leadership Los Gatos program is Sept.
6. This nine-month program gives residents a
deeper look into how the town works and
encourages them to get involved. For an
application, call 408.354.9300 or
408.354.1242.
