Calling all film buffsthe second annual
Los Gatos Film Festival is ready to run! It
kicks off on Aug. 22 with Reel Beginnings ,
a free showcase of short films (most between
10 and 20 minutes) by Los Gatos filmmakers
in two age categories: under and over 21.
Look for the works of Craig Blaine, Marc
Donahue, Sean Donahue, Keith Donaldson, Mark
Eastham, Nicolas Erdei, Chris Martin,
Carolina Morales-Liu, Mike Pierce, Aaron
Ravel, Ben Rheki, Lance Stell, Matt Talesfore
and Peter Wu. The films run from 3 to 6 p.m.
at the Los Gatos Cinema , 41 N. Santa Cruz
Ave. There will also be a filmmakers' panel
discussion.
Next up on Aug. 23 is a free screening of
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial on a giant
screen in Oak Meadow Park. Concessions open
at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at 8 p.m.
Incidentally, this version of E.T. is the
director's cut, so look for extra goodies!
Folks are welcome to bring flashlights,
blankets, sleeping bags and munchies, but no
alcohol, please.
The Los Gatos Cinema is also the venue for
the Aug. 24 premieres of three feature films
from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $10 per person
per film. This cat doesn't yet know what the
films are, but is confident they're great
flicks in several genres. Before the
premieres, however, don't miss the
pre-screening brunch at 9:30 a.m. at Willow
Street Wood-Fired Pizza .
As if all of this weren't fun enough, from 7
to 10 p.m. that night the It's a Wrap Party
takes place at the Toll House Hotel ,
complete with hors d'oeuvres, champagne,
wine, music and Hollywood surprises! The cost
is $35 per person.
This cat recommends advance ticket purchases,
as the fest may sell out fast! For more info,
call 408.354.9300.
