While some folks have misgivings about Friday the 13th, the Prowler hopes no one feels likewise about Saturday the 14th. That's because Sept. 14 is a big community event: the Los Gatos Community Foundation 's 10th annual Garden Party fundraiser, which this year has a Moulin Rouge theme.
The shindig, which takes place at a private Los Gatos residence, include hors d'oeuvres, a fashion show, silent auction and a dinner with wine from Buca Fine Catering of Campbell. The event's not lacking for entertainment, either—patrons can try their luck at the Casino Royale or dance to the San Jose Symphony's "Musicians a la Carte."
Tickets are $125 each. Costumes are admired but not required. Proceeds help the nonprofit Los Gatos Community Foundation provide local grants and scholarships. For reservations, call the foundation's voicemail at 408.792.3233.
More revelry for a good cause is coming Sept. 21. Although "An Evening from the Heart" takes place at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara, it is sponsored and organized by Monte Sereno's own "vending king," Alan Aerts, and his wife, Bonnie. The event includes dinner, a large silent auction and MC entertainment by Gary Scott Thomas of country radio station KRTY. The event is a fundraiser for two of the Aerts' favorite nonprofits: the American Diabetes Association and Guide Dogs for the Blind .
Other highlights include appearances by a survivor of the World Trade Center collapse, baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and local guide dog breeders, complete with dogs and puppies! Call 408.871.7000 for all the details.
