The bride is the daughter of Dr. Larry and Vinnie Hayes of Los Gatos. A graduate of Los Gatos High School and Evergreen Nursing School, she is a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Kaiser Permanente Santa Teresa in South San Jose.

The groom is the son of Dr. William and Pamela Whitstone of Santa Cruz. A graduate of Harbor High School and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, he is the vice president of Grubb and Ellis Commercial Real Estate in San Jose.

The couple resides in San Jose.


Culberson, Knapp

Dan Culberson and Helen McKeown, both of Boulder, Colo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Justine Culberson, to Stephen Langston Knapp of Los Gatos, son of Dave and Kay Knapp of Cupertino. Dave Knapp is Los Gatos' former longtime town manager.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Boulder High School, UC-Berkeley and Columbia University in New York. She works for Architectural Resources Group of San Francisco.

Her fiancé is a graduate of Boulder High School and the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He is a senior laser engineer for Coherent, Inc. in Santa Clara.

They plan an October wedding.
