Will Sparks ran for two touchdowns and more than 100 yards, but the Los Gatos Tigers lost a 20-12 decision to the Sunnyvale Knights in recent Pop Warner Football action.
Sparks scored on runs of 28 and 50 yards in the second quarter to help the Tigers take a 12-6 halftime lead, but the Knights scored two touchdowns in the final period to pull out the win.
Michael Combs and Robert Kundtz were in on six tackles apiece to lead the defensive effort for the Tigers. Garrett Irizarry and Joey Vizzusi chipped in with four tackles each.
In other action, the Los Gatos Panthers dropped a 30-0 nod to the Gilroy Browns. Chris Labouff was the leading ground gainer for the Panthers.
Volleyball club
Boys volleyball club teams are currently being formed in the Los Gatos area. Players ages 1218 are needed for age group teams. Teams practice once or twice a week, and play in weekend tournaments against other teams in Northern California. The season runs from September to January. Roller hockey
Los Gatos High School's club roller hockey program is looking for players for the upcoming school year. The fall season will begin on Sept. 13 with an exhibition game, followed by a 10-game regular season and playoffs.
There are typically three seasons each school year—fall, winter and spring. Eligible players must be enrolled at Los Gatos High School. Games are played Friday evenings, with one practice during the week. Games and practices will be held at Rollin Ice, which is located at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose.
