Undercover operation leads to arrests

Apet Betesfandiar, owner of Al's Auto Body Shop on Industrial Way in Los Gatos is led away by police on Sept. 19 after a regional investigation alleged that he and his son Justin were participating in insurance fraud. California Highway Patrol officer Todd Brown, lead investigator for the operation, said the two had prepared a fraudulent estimate for damages that weren't on the vehicle. The investigation was a joint effort of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force and the Organized Auto Insurance Fraud Task Force and was started in part to cut down on drag racing, according to Brown. Some 30 arrests were made that day as a major sweep with different law enforcement agencies involved.
