Every once in awhile, one of the Prowler's co-workers asks this cat to help them out of a predicament in which a worthwhile press release lands on their desk without enough time or space to feature it in the next Los Gatos Weekly-Times. Such was the case with an interesting write-up and gorgeous photo that arrived recently from Bill Gould Design, an art and architectural firm in Los Gatos.
Gould, together with artist Glen Rogers, was apparently brainstorming for quite some time with Los Gatos High School students and faculty on how to intertwine outdoor art with campus renovations. The first project, titled Interconnections, has just been completed. A striking red steel barrier fence, it connects the lower campus, where the new science building stands, with the upper campus, which is home to the modernized library building.
Described by Gould as a "lyrical, curvilinear fence that provides function as well as an art element to the campus," it contains student-drawn images and also reflects influences of LGHS drafting teacher Rocky Maramonte and art teachers Scott Downs and Ralph Aguayo, who worked with the students—who were, in turn, working with Gould and Rogers. The community is invited to a dedication ceremony on Sept. 26 at 3:15 p.m. For details, call Gould at 408.871.3140.
There's not much room left in this week's column, but that's OK, as the Prowler doesn't know much about pop singer Rosey. She's obviously an up-and-comer, though, as she will be giving an acoustic concert on Oct. 3 at Borders Books here in Los Gatos. She's apparently just released her first album, titled Dirty Child. Borders is in Old Town, at 50 University Ave.
